Earlier this year, Real Estate Balance member Cobalt approached us with an exciting opportunity - to undertake an analysis of the diversity dimensions of their candidates and track them through the recruitment process.
Focusing on gender, ethnicity and social background based on schooling, we have looked at whether candidates who registered with the company were put forward for roles, interviewed for them and, ultimately, whether they were made offers.
Many of the members of REB work with Cobalt - which made the possibility of undertaking the analysis even more intriguing for us. The company obviously did not provide any information to identify the candidates or the companies which considered them, interviewed them and hired them.
The report we have produced reveals a number of interesting findings relating to the importance of inclusive recruitment practices.
It also includes some resources we recommend from the likes of the Chartered Institute of Professional Development, Inclusive Employers and RICS to help our members on their journeys towards being representative and progressive employers.
