CBRE’s Women’s Network recently hosted their annual conference called Changemakers. It was a day full of joy, inspiration, learning, community and allyship; exploring key themes through an intersectional lens. The event was attended by around 1,000 network members and colleagues from across the business.

The first session was streamed live from CBRE Manchester, discussing how boosting social mobility can fuel economic growth in the UK. Guests speakers from Regeneration Brainery and Arup highlighted that “we can’t deliver projects that are meaningful for communities and meet their needs if we don’t have a team that reflects the full diversity of that community.”

Burnout prevention specialist Subira Jones ran a session on how to Fireproof your Career, focusing on work-life success rather than work-life balance. And two of CBRE’s impressive Graduate Consultants hosted a panel discussion defining What Confidence Means to You, reflecting on how embracing your authentic self and looking at how culture and environment can make you feel more confident.

The Men as Allies initiative at CBRE continues to gain momentum, experiencing 32% growth since its inception. The team hosted a session on how to be an active ally called Be more CARL – Call it out, Amplify, Role model and Listen.

CBRE’s Head of Human Capital, Georgina Fraser, was also interviewed, sharing her career journey and important advice around building a bank of milestone moments to draw confidence from, and a reminder that you are the architect of your own life.

Internationally renowned activist, model, author, and broadcaster Munroe Bergdorf delivered a powerful keynote session, shining a spotlight on the current crisis of empathy, the importance of allyship and the emotional labour of activism.

Lastly, CEO of AllBright, Viviane Paxinos, closed the conference by granting attendees the Permission to have Ambition, reflecting on the power of feminine leadership to transform the world.

CBRE's Women Network co-Chair Jileen Loo said: "It was an empowering day, delivering the Women’s Network’s goal of bringing about real, structural, and sustainable change to the issues that matter most to women, to foster an inclusive culture at CBRE."
