From planning to surveying to logistics to construction to maintenance and everything in-between, you will find driven and inspiring women building meaningful careers and making a difference. But property has a problem. We have a longstanding gender imbalance when it comes to the hands-on, skills-based roles which keep our industry going.
The aim of this event is to bring property professionals together to share practical strategies in attracting and retaining women in such roles. Our panel session and networking with likeminded industry participants will look to provide some answers to key questions, including:
- How do we change the perceptions women may have of a career in the built environment with a particular focus on hands-on, skills-based roles?
- How do we market these careers to young women entering the workforce and those considering a change of career?
- How can we adapt cultures to make women feel like they belong and are included in environments and positions traditionally dominated by men?
- How do we work with each other and key stakeholders to bring greater awareness of the apprenticeships and other training partnerships and also the career development opportunities provided by hands-on, skills-based roles in property?
- How do we overcome the challenges many of us currently have in recruiting and retaining women, and what are some of the success stories in breaking barriers?
Panellists for this event will include:
- Phil Cook, Group Engineering and Maintenance Director from Tesco Property
- Samantha Sommerville, Talent Acquisition Manager, Canary Wharf Group
- Lynda Rawsthorne, Director, Property Capability & Strategy, Head of Property Profession
- Kate Craig Waller, Partner, Delivery ‑ Real Assets, Granger Reis
