A roundtable discussion with industry leaders at the world’s preeminent real estate conference.
Real estate and its associated sectors need diverse talent. Diverse ideas and perspectives help to maximise returns on our investments and designing and developing a built environment that enhances the lives of the diverse individuals and communities who utilise the homes, facilities and infrastructure we deliver and manage makes sound business and moral sense. The industry has undertaken lots of work on showcasing careers in real estate to encourage those from diverse backgrounds to consider the wide variety of roles we offer, but how do we go from inspire to hire? How are we inclusively recruiting diverse talent and retaining them with rewarding and meaningful career opportunities?
Real Estate Balance has been working with three of the leading property agencies on this interactive equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) working brunch, where participants will be able to share their perspectives and experiences and learn from others on this vital topic of recruiting and retaining diverse talent in our industry.
The event will be introduced by Real Estate Balance Managing Director Sue and the industry influencers who have shaped this session, below, will then share their thoughts on the topic:
- Hannah Awonuga – Partner, Group Head of DEI at Knight Frank
- Chanelle Gray – Head of D&I and UK Board Director at Savills
- Anne-Lyse Raoul – Head of DE&I EMEA at JLL
Attendees will then have the opportunity to discuss four key themes relating to recruiting and retaining diverse talent with the peers on their tables:
- Breaking barriers: strategies for recruiting individuals with underrepresented characteristics and backgrounds.
- Inclusive leadership: the development and progression of diverse talent to senior positions.
- Creating belonging: fostering inclusive cultures in the real estate industry.
Mentoring and sponsorship: putting programmes in place to support career growth
Each table will be facilitated by a property professional who will be prepped in advance and who will capture as many of the views expressed as possible with the aim of furthering the conversation on recruiting and retaining diverse talent in real estate and generating effective practices to be shared with attendees on the day. We are also pleased that some of the up-and-coming property professionals in this year’s cohort of MIPIM Challengers are being invited to take part in the session.
This event is being hosted and catered by Greystar in their stunning villa just a short distance from the main MIPIM conference site. Please use the button at the top of the page to request a place.
