Relaunching our Employer EDI Toolkit

Graphic saying Employer Toolkit on navy background

To coincide with our 10th anniversary this autumn, we are relaunching our Toolkit – a flagship Real Estate Balance resource providing guidance to employers on initiatives relating to representation, fairness and belonging.

Organised into three sections – Leadership, Culture and Opportunity – the Toolkit provides an easy-to-navigate introduction to key topics including:

  • The business and social cases for EDI
  • Employee resource groups
  • Reporting inappropriate behaviour
  • Protected characteristics
  • Undertaking diversity data collection exercises
  • Benchmarking diversity data
  • Measuring inclusivity
  • The power of a culture of inclusion
  • Hybrid and flexible working and culture
  • Mentoring, reverse mentoring and sponsorship
  • Bias in the workplace
  • The Authority Gap
  • Stigmas relating to menopause
  • Intersectionality
  • Degree apprenticeships
  • Raising awareness of roles in real estate
  • Inclusive recruitment practices
  • Positive action vs positive discrimination

The newly-refreshed Toolkit includes more than 30 links to resources we have produced with our members over the years and leading third-party research and reports for those wanting to engage with the topics further.

You can read a report on the relaunched Toolkit in Property Week here.

Sue Brown, our Managing Director, said:

“Our relaunched Toolkit is designed to be a one-stop shop for real estate organisations of any size looking to improve their performance on issues like representation, fairness and belonging.

“The Toolkit not only includes the most up-to-date best practice, it’s also much more streamlined – telling people what they need to know or signposting them to other resources – and I’m sure it will be of real use to our members.”

Jo Davis, Principal and UK Executive Chair, Avison Young, and Chair of the REB Board of Directors added:

“What makes the new Toolkit so brilliant is that it draws on ten years of real-world expertise and experience – synthesising what works and presenting it in an accessible, easy-to-apply format.”

The Toolkit is an exclusive benefit for REB members. If you work for one of our members, you can request a copy of the Toolkit by clicking on the Contact button below and filling out the short form.
