Real Estate Balance invites members to take part in our next Reverse Speed Mentoring event with Federated Hermes, hosted on the 12th May 2026.
This event is part of our mentoring programme connecting senior leaders with early to mid-career professionals for fast-paced, structured conversations.
In a role reversal, reverse mentoring has evolved to comprise senior (usually older) leaders being mentored by a more junior (usually younger and often from an underrepresented group) colleague who, from a diversity and inclusion perspective, is different from them in some way, and therefore experiences their career differently.
Benefits for senior mentees
- Provides a practical opportunity for leadership to lead by example to direct culture change;
- Improves confidence in understanding and discussing the issues by building awareness of the experiences of, and barriers faced by, underrepresented groups;
- Develops the ability to lead diverse teams and builds inclusive leadership competencies.
Benefits for junior mentors
- Increases visibility as role models to other underrepresented groups in the industry;
- Broadens their network by building mutually beneficial relationships with senior leaders;
- Provides junior mentors with a unique insight into leadership roles.
When signing up, you will be asked a few questions to help us determine suitable matches. This information will only be used internally.
Places are on a first come, first served basis. Please note that we can have only four mentees and four mentors from each organisation, as this ensures that mentees are not placed with mentors from their own organisation.
Registration will be from 5:30pm for a 6pm start. The mentoring session will finish around 7pm and will be followed by networking drinks.
