Real Estate Balance launches people survey – now in its 10th year and open to everyone working in property

Real Estate Balance is launching its people survey today – the largest and most comprehensive study of issues like fairness, representation and belonging in the UK property industry, and now in its tenth year.

Over the last decade, Real Estate Balance has carried out the industry-wide survey every two years to track the experiences of people working in property and identify the drivers and barriers to progress.

As an independent survey of everyone in property – from agents, architects and accountants to developers, investors, planners and lawyers – the results help us to continue driving positive change.

The survey runs from 15 October until the end of the month, and the results will be published early in the new year, helping to build a picture of where the industry currently stands and its direction of travel over time.

As in previous years, the data will be gathered via two separate surveys:

1. The Employee survey is a chance for all individuals working in property to share their experiences and have their say.

2. The Company survey is for Real Estate Balance’s members.

The Employee survey is open to all, and Real Estate Balance is keen to hear from property professionals of all backgrounds working at all levels right across the UK – including those who are from minority backgrounds as well as those who aren’t. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences.

The Company survey tracks the performance and progress of Real Estate Balance members at a corporate level, which includes organisations of all sizes, including SMEs.

Having an up-to-date set of data will enable any current diversity challenges to be clearly identified, so that organisations working within the industry can take action and respond accordingly.

The more property professionals that take part in the Employee survey, the more useful the picture will be. By joining in, participants are helping to shape more inclusive spaces and create more accessible opportunities, so that everyone feels welcome in our industry and is able to thrive.

The Employee survey is available online here and takes 10-15 minutes to complete.

Speaking about the survey, PJ Galvin, managing director of Real Estate Balance, said:

“I’m pleased to announce the launch of our survey and want to encourage everyone working in real estate to share their experiences with us. Your insights will help build a valuable picture of the industry’s current performance and its progress over the last ten years, so we can collectively work to make it fairer and more equitable. We’d like property professionals from all backgrounds and levels of seniority to take part, to ensure that voices from right across the industry are represented and heard.”
