News / 13.07.2023

We are delighted to announce that Rebecca Campbell, Partner at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, and Robin Macpherson, Head of Risk, Europe at Cromwell Property Group, have been appointed to our Policy and Campaigns Committee (PCC) on three-year terms.

Rebecca and Robin will join 14 other dedicated real estate professionals from across Real Estate Balance’s membership in contributing their ideas and insights to the PCC – our primary D&I activity and thought leadership development forum.

Rebecca and Robin are committed to progressing D&I in their own organisations and have achieved impressive accomplishments as individuals and as part of teams in bringing about positive cultural changes.

Rebecca has worked as a real estate disputes lawyer for BCLP for 12 years and is the co-creator and lead of the ‘Amplify’ bespoke training and coaching programme for women across BCLP’s UK lawyer and business services populations.

Following the success of two cohorts of ‘Amplify’ participants, Rebecca then helped to devise and launch ‘Podium’ – the transatlantic version of the UK scheme which focuses on business development and high impact presentation skills for BCLP staff and their clients in Europe and North America.

Rebecca has also achieved several D&I successes in a previous role as the Chair of the Property Litigation Association’s Education and Training Committee, including widening access to the 100 hours of training provided annually to the organisation’s 1,500 members across the UK.

Commenting on being appointed to the PCC, Rebecca said:

“It is an honour to join the PCC as I am passionate about improving equality and inclusion in the industry and believe that the only way to make genuine progress is to foster meaningful collaboration across organisations.

“Real Estate Balance is at the forefront of this, and I am excited to work alongside my fellow committee members to ensure we devise impactful campaigns and initiatives that support our members.”

Robin has been a leading member of Cromwell Property Group’s European Management Team since 2016 and was previously the Head of Legal at Royal Bank of Scotland. He is a skills-based professional with a proven track record in building and leading diverse teams, and he currently leads a team of legal, risk and compliance professionals in the UK, Luxembourg and Singapore.

Robin is also a part of Cromwell Property Group’s D&I committee and ESG steering group and is passionate about progressing social mobility opportunities for underprivileged young people in law and finance. He mentors students on the LLM programme at Brunel University, where he has also guest lectured on regulation and corporate finance.

Speaking about joining the PCC, Robin said:

“I’m grateful to the team at Real Estate Balance for giving me the opportunity to contribute to the great work that the PCC does.

“I’m thrilled that I’ll be part of a team that helps provide the industry with direction and useful resources to support our members’ D&I agendas.

“As we say, real estate is a people business; and D&I for me is about people feeling like they have the opportunity and the right to be here and have access to a career and life that was historically reserved for a small part of our society.”

Suzanne Avery, Real Estate Balance co-founder and Chair of the PCC said:

“The 10 CEO Commitments Campaign, our guide to collecting diversity data in the workplace called Can I ask you a personal question? and our recent paternity and shared parental leave as allyship event are just some of the fantastic initiatives PCC members have developed since the Committee’s inception in 2020.

“I am pleased Rebecca and Robin have joined us at as such an important moment for the PCC, as we develop ideas and actions to respond to the findings in our recent Industry Survey and CEO Breakfast events to inspire and include our members in making meaningful change.”

We undertook a layered process to ensure everyone who expressed an interest in the open two committee places we advertised had a fair opportunity to be selected, and we are thankful to all the brilliant people who applied.
